This is a remain of iron works located on the plateau by Shirasugawa river on the southern foot of Shirasuyama Mountain (130m from the ground.)
According to the related ancient documents, a wealthy merchant Suizu Yashichi from Nichihara in Shimane prefecture ran the Tatara in 1856 and provided the iron to Hagi domain for ship buildings.
