An undersea tunnel connects Kyushu and the main Island. The construction was started in 1936 and completed in March 1958 after a contemporary break due to the war. This is known as a unique undersea tunnel with 2 levels of 3,461m long driveway and 780m Kanmon pedestrian tunnel.
