A small island Iwaijima is located in the southern edge of Yamaguchi prefecture, on the Suo-nada sea.
The square measure of this island is 7.69m2, the highest point is 357.4m above the ground. Mostly consists of the steep slope, no flat land. Except for the beach, the island is made of andesite from a volcanic eruption 12 million years ago.
The island is a popular spot for mountain cherry blossoms. Over 30 species of cherry trees are covering the island.
Approximately 3000 cherry trees bloom in once in the beginning to the mid of April.
