A traditional festival continuing for over 500 years and inherited from the O-bon lanterns of the Ouchi Family. Ten thousands of red lanterns cover the streets with magical light and many events are held as well.
On both days of the festival the central shopping street and the street to the station are decorated with ten thousands of red lanterns and and are decorated beautifully like a tunnel of light.
Women and men parade carrying palanquins of lanterns and enliven the streets of Yamaguchi with enthusiasm.
