The Hamasaki area is a port town below Hagi Castle. The roads and site splits in the Edo period remain well, and there are many houses and warehouses built from the Edo period to the early Showa era, mainly on Honmachi-suji street runs through the north and south of this area. In 2001, it was selected as an Important Preservation District for Group of Traditional Buildings. Some townhouses are open to public, and we recommend taking a stroll through the charming townscape. Local voluntary guides are also available. Every May, the "Hamasaki Denken Otakara Museum" is held, where many people enjoy the treasures of the old family open to the public, concert at the Ofunagura warehouse, and food from Ichiba Shokudo.
