The ”mountain burning” is a tradition inviting spring at Akiyoshi plateau. It has been practiced for several hundred years and is still continued today. The mountain burning of Akiyoshi Plateau which covers the 1,500 ha large Karst plateau in a belt of flames and smoke is the largest controlled burn of Japan.
