From the middle of the Edo era to 1955s, Hofu was flourished as one of the largest sources of salt in Japan. At a corner of the saltpan site, some facilities of a former channeled salt-terrace method are restored with the exhibitions of the tools and the method. Kamaya chimney in those days passes down their hard work to produce salt until today.
