Kanyoji Temple is a temple of the Rinzai sect Nanzenji School located in Shikano, Shunan City. It is an ancient temple founded in 1374, and the highlight here is the beautiful garden. Mirei Shigemori, a gardener representative of the Showa period, has designed and istructed, and the gardens of various eras were created using the water that flows from Choondo Cave on the back mountain. It is rare to have gardens of various styles created by Mirei in one temple. You can also experience copying sutras and Zen meditation facing the "Kyokusui Garden" in front of the main hall. It's a calm and quiet space.
