Ube city Watanabeo Memorial Hall was built in 1937 for the memory of Watanabe Sukesaku (1864-1934) of his goodness and the contribution to the development of Ube city.
Watanabe Sukesaku was born in Ube village, and succeeded as a coal mine operator through many struggles. He started many business one after another such as cement industries and lime chemical business.
The hall was designed by an architect represents the Showa period, Murano Togo(1891-1984). This can be said as his best work before the war and known widely inside and outside Japan.
Not to mention the design, but also it is famous for its excellence of the acoustic sound effects.
